Little Glow Fishbowl is an interactive web-based aquarium that translates the tactile wonder of marine life into a real-time digital ecosystem. This project bridges procedural motion design and intuitive hand tracking, creating a responsive environment where viewers can interact with glowing sea creatures through subtle gestures.
Workflow & Development
Concept & Visual Atmosphere:
Curated a serene deep-sea mood centered around bioluminescent marine life, emphasizing soft halation, luminous colors, and organic aquatic motion.
AI-Driven Asset Generation:
Generated stylized 2D stills of glowing sea creatures and flora with Flora.ai, focusing on distinctive silhouettes and glowing surface textures.
Procedural Motion in TouchDesigner:
Brought static illustrations to life by applying subtle organic movements, autonomous swimming trajectories, fluid water ripples, and audio-reactive glow.
Hand Tracking & Gesture Logic:
Integrated MediaPipe to detect hand presence and fingertip pinches, translating physical movement into surface displacement and bubble release triggers.
Browser Optimization via PixiJS:
Reconstructed the TouchDesigner setup into a client-side PixiJS pipeline, implementing screen blending and lightweight rendering for seamless cross-device performance.
Live Netlify Launch:
Packaged the final static build and hosted it on Netlify, delivering a friction-free web experience accessible via direct URL.
