A Memory of My Dreams is an immersive and interactive installation prototype that translates the surreal fluidity of personal dreams into a digital landscape. This project bridges generative art and interaction, creating a responsive environment where viewers can explore a "vivid but strange" dreamscape.
The Process : Bringing the Dream to Life
Ideation & World-Building:
Defined the core concept of "vivid but strange dreams," aiming to evoke "beautiful confusion" through hyper-realistic but physically impossible forms.
AI-Driven Asset Generation:
Utilized generative AI tools like Nano Banana and Kling to create and animate surreal, soft-body 3D elements.
Virtual Prototyping:
Built a digital simulation environment in TouchDesigner to test mapping 2D AI-generated videos onto 3D spherical geometries.
Risk Assessment & Experimentation:
Identified critical visual distortions—such as polar seams and texture pinching—when attempting a full 360° projection of complex AI textures.
Strategic Pivot:
Shifted the physical installation design from a full floating sphere to a wall-mounted hemisphere,
which successfully maximized visual resolution and simplified real-time camera tracking.
Interactive Programming:
Integrated the system with TouchDesigner to allow the surreal environment to react dynamically in response to the audience's physical presence.
